APA Idaho 2014 Award Nominations now open!

APA Idaho is pleased to announce the opening of its 2014 Awards Program nomination cycle. This Program provides APA Idaho with the opportunity to recognize and honor outstanding planning projects and exceptional individuals engaged in planning in the state of Idaho. The award-winning projects are highlighted during the annual conference as shining examples of how to plan in Idaho.

The APA Idaho Awards Committee has made several positive changes to the program this year. The award category descriptions have been refined, and alignment with national APA award categories has been identified. The judging criteria have been tailored for each award category, and are included in the new nomination packet. Nomination submittals will be accepted electronically this year, eliminating copying and mailing costs. Last but not least, a new award has been added – “The Gem Award” – which recognizes planning achievement and/or leadership in the topic chosen as the theme for the annual chapter conference. For 2014 the theme for the conference, and topic for the Gem Award, is “Building Better Partnerships.”

2014 Award Categories:
• Outstanding Plan Award
• Planning Tool or Implementation Award
• Public Outreach Award
• Leadership Award
• Student Project Award
• The Gem Award

The Awards Program provides APA Idaho conference participants with the chance to see and learn about a range of projects in which good planning has had a positive impact in our communities. It is open to Idaho organizations and agencies, professional planners, citizen planners, elected officials, appointed officials (such as planning commissioners), students, and others – depending on the category. In reviewing submissions, the APA Idaho Awards Committee will look for innovation, quality, and the potential for use in other areas.

We welcome and look forward to receiving your nominations!
Please see the attached Nomination Packet for complete details.
The deadline for submittals is Friday, August 15, 2014.
