TRB Bicycle Transportation Committee – Calls for Papers & Paper Submissions

Dear Committee Members & Friends of the TRB Bicycle Transportation Committee (ANF20):

Welcome to another season of paper writing and submissions for the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board, scheduled for 11-15 January 2015 at its new venue, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The theme of the 2015 Annual Meeting is “Corridors to the Future: Transportation and Technology.”

Calls for Papers

ANF20 welcomes papers on all aspects of bicycle transportation. In addition, we are co-sponsoring the following calls for papers this year:

• Livable Arterials: An Oxymoron or Urban Elixir? (http://pressamp.trb.org/CallForPapers/CFPDetail.asp?cid=1799)

All calls for papers for TRB 2015 are posted at http://pressamp.trb.org/CallForPapers/

Paper Submissions
Please note the following as you prepare your manuscript:

TRB strongly encourages authors to prepare papers that adhere to the 7500 equivalent-word limit at the initial submission stage, regardless of whether papers are submitted for Presentation Only, Publication Only, or both. As the number of papers reviewed by ANF20 and other committees continues to grow, the submission of concise papers that stay within the paper length limit is greatly preferred and much appreciated. As in past years, we will continue the hard policy that any paper exceeding the equivalent-words limit will be rejected without review. Also, note that TRB is carefully monitoring any attempts to circumvent the word limit policy through the use of multi-part figures and tables (when in fact each part should stand alone).

Other reasons for papers to be rejected without review through an initial filtering process include, but are not limited to:
• Poor use of the English language,
• Submission of the same paper published elsewhere,
• Subject of the paper not within the scope of TRB,
• Paper excessively oriented towards marketing a specific product, or
• Poor layout, format, and organization of the content.

TRB requires that authors specify the word count, number of tables and figures, and total equivalent-word count for all paper submissions. The total equivalent-word count includes the abstract, the entire body of the paper, tables and figures, and references. To assist TRB staff and our committee in the paper handling and review process, please be sure to provide accurate word count information.
